Twentieth pairing: Fire vs Stockfish

The showdown between the two highest rated engines turns to Stockfish's advantage.

In the first game, the Benko opening transposed to an English Symmetrical played without flaws by both engines until a threefold repetition was reached.

Twenty-second pairing: Andscacs vs Nirvanachess

The showdown was unfortunately marked by a loss on time in the return game, NC taking too much time playing move 80 (last one to reach the TC) in a drawn ending. The first game saw a long draw in Mason variation of the Queen's pawn game.

Final results:

Image

- Stockfish wins this tournament, remaining the only undefeated engine during the contest.

- Great performance by Fire, which won half of the Black wins in this tournament (4 out of eight).

- Only two other engines got Black wins (2 for SF and 2 for Critter).

- Very solid performance by the veteran Critter. Shame this great engine is no longer developed.

- Protector and BlackMamba were definitely not strong enough for this field.

- Shortest White win: SF vs Andscacs (round 4.7, 51 moves)
- Shortest Black win: BlackMamba vs Fire (round 2.1, 43 moves)
- Shortest game: Critter vs Andscacs (round 2.6, 31 moves)
- Longest game: Critter vs Nirvanachess (round 1.8, 142 moves)
- Longest decisive game: Gull vs Andscacs (round 5.5, 117 moves, Gull wins)

That's all for now. Hope this was fun for whoever followed this :)
