Yes but Aljechin played Ra4 a move later anyway.
If i am not mistaken this position was analyzed in the forum before with the conclusion that Rd5 would also win.

Well, the "big-boys" are done with this position. Of the 56 games played, 42 continued with 1...Be4 (score 0-18-24) and 14 with 1...a3 (score 0-9-5).

SmarThink first intention is Ra4, but after ply 9 it goes away and never returns.
