Weak Engine to Test Against

Hi guys,

Would any of you have a suggestion for a really weak UCI engine for me to test against? I would guess around 1700 ELO. I need something like that to test changes in my engine. Testing against Stockfish, my engine would lose all the games even with like a +300 ELO patch......

You can fiddle with the nodestime parameter and make Stockfish pretty weak.

Or you can use the UCI_Strength feature.

TSCP also comes to mind (http://www.tckerrigan.com/Chess/TSCP/).

When my engine was around that range I used mostly MicroMax4.8 and TSCP. Both can be found with a quick google search, surely.

Alternatively, many engines like stockfish allow you to tune them to reduce the elo. This would work find for you, but if you are trying to get an estimate of your engine's actual elo, I would not recommend doing it this way.
