Hyperthreading with more than 20 cores is probably of not much use strength wise, but test-wise it is helpful.
For SP testing on a 20 core machine, the question is whether to turn off hyperthreading and run 20 (or 19) tests at once, or to leave it on and run 40 (or 39 or 38 or?) tests at once. It is clear that you get more games per minute (assuming some double-digit fixed depth test) with Hyperthreading on, but the question is whether resources are allocated more equitably with Hyperthreading off? For fixed depth testing this only affects the average time reported, but it is of critical importance for timed games. We have gone with Hyperthreading off for such games, on the belief that the results will be less random or less biased if each test has its own core. Do you think we are justified in this belief, or is it nonsense?
With fixed depth hyperthreading is positively beneficial. Fixed nodes too. As for fixed time, some 4-5 years ago I observed statistical anomalies with 8-0, especially when there are scaling with time issues at very short TC. But 8-1 or 40-2 it should be fine, if you are not using the PC for other CPU intensive tasks. It is not that setting the number of threads equal to the number of physical cores, the engine will stick to a core. Only by setting affinities it will do that even when using only physical cores. But I am not specialist on this, and I had recently (hyperthreading topic here) some surprises with my Windows threads scheduler. Keep in mind that speed per thread with 40-2 is about 1.5 or so times lower than for 20-1 on a 20 core machine. But there are 2.0 times more games.

Thanks for posting with eval, but is there a chance you post the games with results again but with eval

I'll do that either tonight or tomorrow ;)
I didn't want to confuse people by posting several times the same game, but I'll just add as a reply the repost of each game with evaluation.
This shouldn't pollute too much the previous posts
