Problem setting openings for TLCV using Arena

My students can now broadcast an Arena tournament using TLCS for viewing in TLCV, but only if each game begins from the standard starting position. We tried selecting opening move sequences / opening positions at random from the 8-ply opening book in Arena in the PGN and EPD formats. What happens in both cases is, TLCS fails to make the first 4 moves (8 plies of the book moves) and then makes only the moves that are also valid in the standard starting position, skipping the rest and reporting them in the log as illegal ones. It is broadcasting a very wrong game! How can this problem be resolved? The whole point of switching from Deep Fritz 14 to Arena was to implement random selection of openings in the tournament games.
