Thank you very much Werner and the CEGT team for testing Toga II 4.0, much appreciated.

It is good to see that the improvement is significant.

Sure it's the "strongest fruit"? How does it compare with Fruit reloaded 3.2.1? I guess they would be very very close.

Toga II 4.0 is about 50 Elo stronger than Fruit reloaded 3.2.1 on the CEGT 40/20 rating list.

Toga II 4.0 x64 2758
Fruit reloaded 3.2.1 x64 2705

However Daniel is doing a great job with Fruit reloaded, it's improving quickly.

Toga can't be the strongest Fruit, because it's named "Toga" and not "Fruit".
Toga is derived from Fruit 2.1. Fruit reloaded based on Fruit 2.2.1.

Even if its stronger, the code is a shame of bytes in my personal view.
And Toga 4.0 is one of the reasons why i stopped working on Fruit reloaded in public. Only private versions will be available for now.

Agreed, Toga II source code has been a mess for years.

The last release is a little better than anything from 1.4 beta 5c to 3.0, but still numerous asserts are broken, there's no consistent style throughout etc. Anyone wanting to restore Toga II as a permanent project ought to do a huge clean-up. (Not sure I'll bother, Toga II 4.0 was merely just the result of me fooling around with an old beta from 2014 for a few weeks while bored and happening to find a few nice ideas that worked + borrowing improvements from other engines including Fruit).

By contrast Fruit reloaded 3.2.1 is clean, clearly written and well-commented.

Daniel
I'm sorry to hear that Toga II 4.0 was a reason; obviously there were no such intention on my part, in fact I thought that some of the Toga II ideas/patches might perhaps also be useful in Fruit.

Regardless, I wish you the best of luck.
