Which gpu to buy for tournaments and matches running Zero?

Post by Hai »

I want to buy more than 1 gpu!
But not the Titan V (to much money).
Is it possible to buy 4x geforce 1050 ti or 1060 and have much more performance for less money?

It worth to buy one high end card instead of two mid cards
Two video cards sitting closely together in your case will draw more power, produce more heat, and produce more noise.
1. Heat is a bit of a bigger issue. If your current case and your current cooling system simply cannot cope with the heat you are dealing with, then you are going to have to buy some new components to deal with that.
2. Power. Higher-level cards are optimized to idle better, and many mid-range cards idle at around 400 - 500 w.
3. Noise. The noise from the fans, the noise from the case fans, the noise from the cards, the noise from the AC.
If you have multiple cards drawing high watts, that's going to cost quite a bit of money over time.

For example, modern cards from Nvidia are drawing 800 - 1000 watts under load. That's already approximately 3 - 4 cents an hour to run one card. That's at least $3.50 a month to run one of those cards under load 4 hours a day on average. $7 a month for both cards (and that's JUST for the cards) is pretty expensive, and that's not including costs of leaving the computer idling in between use (if you don't turn it off).

So you can just bring in more power, but that's not the only issue.

Don't you think that 800 - 1000 Watts power draw for modern nVidia cards is a little bit exaggerated?, at full load and default clock the 1080ti draws around 250W. and the 1060 draws less than half that figure. When Idling these cards draw very little power (< 20W.) so that should not be much of a problem.
