TCEC Season 12: Premier Division

Premier Division of Season 12 has started! and Stockfish - Jonny is the first game. This Division will consist of four double round-robins and all the games will follow openings selected by Nelson (Cato) and be eight moves in length. Top two engines qualify to superfinal and bottom two are relegated to Division 1.

The eight participants are:

Does anyone have a summary of the Leela exhibition matches played between divisions? They don't seem to be on the TCEC archive.

Oof! Having crashed in three out of five games, Chiron will no longer be playing in the tournament. I haven't heard whether they will let Fizbo come up from Division 1 to replace Chiron.

2. When an engine is disqualified due to 3 crashes, the division will continue with the rest of engines because replacing with another engine will need additional work and distorts the natural flow of games. However, the replacement could be done if an engine is withdrawn before the division starts.

After 1/4 of Premier Division: Komodo is leading with 8.5 points, Stockfish and Houdini are tied with 7.5 points in the 2nd place. Regarding relegation to Division 1, Jonny is 7th with 3.5 points and Chiron is 8th due to dequalification (3 crashes).

We reached halfway point of Premier Division. Stockfish and Komodo are tied in top two spots with 1.5 point advantage over Houdini. Jonny and Ginkgo are also tied and fighting hard to avoid relegation to Division 1.

The Premiere division is finished, with Komodo and Stockfish going on to the superfinal match. Jonny will return to division 1 next season, and Chiron is also demoted for crashing three times.

Nice and interesting to see Komodo 12 winning this round despite the big difference in elo with Stockfish. It was also close to see Stockfish dev not reaching the superfinal
