Bottom CCRL 40/4

Post by pedrox »

In CCRL 40/4 I see this:

Code: Select all

628	Alouette 0.0.5 64-bit 701
629	Belofte 0.9.0 694
630	EasyPeasy 1.0 684
 	ReBorn Mainsworthy 1.30 644
 	MicroChess 1976 611
631	AcquaD 3.2.26 598
 	Acqua 20160614 567
632	NEG 0.3d 550
633	Ram 2.0 512
 	Acqua 20160918 509
634	CPP1 461
 	Alouette 0.0.3 64-bit 431
635	POS 1.20 426
636	LaMoSca 0.10 370
637	ACE 0.1 362
 	Sapeli 1.02 RND 64-bit 285
 	Brutus RND 261
Some engines on the list have problems:
- Ace: on occasion performs illegal moves.
- Pos: It can lose time and sometimes even use almost 100% of the CPU even when opponent move.
- CPP1: rejects gui moves for interpreting that they are illegal.
- Lamosca: does not recognize en passant, promotions, castles. If the opposing engine plays one of these movets it will stop playing.
- Microchess: makes illegal moves

Especially serious are the problems of CPP1 and LaMosca.

My question is: are the games with problems eliminated from the Elo list or they are maintained?

In my case Ace in the next tournament seems to have a better result than expected and in part it is due to the serious problems discussed in CCP1 and LaMosca. Also with MicroChess.

Hello! I take this opportunity to point out that in the latest version of Alouette, there are three different engines, which are intended to replace the previous versions. "Alouette-A" is intended to replace Alouette 0.0.3, and "Alouette-B" is intended to replace Alouette 0.0.5. "Alouette-C" is really a new version, a little stronger. Please see this post.

Best regards.

I do wonder where a pure random mover (that knows the rules) would come on CCRL 40/4

Losses on time are not included unless the result was clear anyway.
Games with illegal moves are not included.

I was looking for Aloutte 0.0.3, I'll replace it with Alouette-C. I am interested in engines that play as weak as possible but that win one with random moves. It is difficult to make an engine that plays weaker than ACE and POS!

I do not recommend using Alouette 0.0.3, which has some bugs. Alouette-A 0.0.7 will play at the same level, but (as far as I know) without bugs.
