Re: The Axolotl And The Fly
Hi Graham,
first of all thanks for testing FabChess Sadly the results don't look particulary good for FabChess at the moment, and also differ quite a bit from what I've measured myself. I think Fab is just really nervous because it is its first tournament and it will surely perform better in the nearer future Also still small sample size. Anyway, I am excited to look into the games my engine lost

Wow, the games have really weird evaluation annotations. Is there something wrong going on on your side?

Engine evals are from the engine point of view, not from the white point of view.
Issues connecting to TLCV are usually due to router or firewall permissions.

Fabian probably talks about the evals in the pgn. I never managed to make them look good in Arena. Seems a ChessGUI special.Graham Banks wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:06 amEngine evals are from the engine point of view, not from the white point of view.

Exactly, I am talking about abs(eval), point of view seems right.RubiChess wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 6:34 amFabian probably talks about the evals in the pgn.Graham Banks wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:06 amEngine evals are from the engine point of view, not from the white point of view.

Me neither, but Arena displays it correctly. The pgn just looks wrong IMO. Excerpt from the pgn of one of FabChess' games:I never managed to make them look good in Arena. Seems a ChessGUI special.

Was there some sort of issue with Axolotl?
