I don't know ICCF regulations, but if 6... Ng6, I say White claims victory for illegal move.

It is not based on the ICCF rules

ICCF rules 7.2:
7.2:"If during a non-server game, it is found that an illegal move has been completed, the position
immediately before the irregularity shall be reinstated. The game shall then continue from this
reinstated position and guilty player shall be penalized."

In what way is the guilty party penalized? In OTB, it's either loss (strict) or time penalty (lenient). Time penalty doesn't work in CC.

You mean cxd5.

For whatever it is worth, ChessDBCN considers Ne7 cxd5 exd5 d4 Rb8 Qa6 Rb6 Qd3 Ng6 as a forced line. I wonder if either player can improve upon it.

7.cxd4 is impossible, but I'll assume you meant 7.cxd5 and carry on.

1. g4 d5 2. Bg2 Bxg4 3. c4 c6 4. Qb3 e6 5. Qxb7 Nd7 6. Nc3 Ne7 7. cxd5

My turn again.

Komodo 13.2, depth 29: -1.06 ... exd5.

Things look okay for White so far, don't they?

I find the following in older rules

h. A penalty of five days shall be added to the time of a player who sends an
illegible, illegal or ambiguous move, incorrectly repeats the opponent's latest move
or fails to send a move by air mail when this is mandatory.

Huh, try matching that Komodo depth 29 against some Stockfish depth 28 (for instance) and see how the fish destroys the dragon with ease?

1. g4 d5 2. Bg2 Bxg4 3. c4 c6 4. Qb3 e6 5. Qxb7 Nd7 6. Nc3 Ne7 7. cxd5 exd5

We're not judging Komodo 13 here. Its eval is just given for curiosity value (and obviously depth 29 is just a random depth low enough to find on a slow machine) -- and variety, instead of just SF/Leela.

I don't know why you'd want to play it against SF at depth 28. For that to mean much, I'd have to calibrate by playing 1000 games from respectable openings from both sides of Komodo depth 29 against SF depth 28. Your reasoning is puzzling.

I'd prefer to see what Komodo says at depth 60, but for that I'd need to run it on Louis's machine.
