I know the secret. The programmer discovered a new algorithm for chess and he is not going to tell the world what it is because then his program would no longer be he strongest. Use your head young man. If you developed the strongest program in the world would you give away all your secrets? I think not.

Incidentally, it is only because I know The Secret (tm) that my engine Eden is currently doing so well in the ChessWar tournament.

I'm too impatient to read your speculations. The simplest way to find out if they are close to the truth would be to implement a chess engine based on your ideas, and find out if its performance comes close to Rybka.

To say more, all chess programmers conspired not to write engines stronger than Rybka.
