Nevermind. I think I found the cause of this bug.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney November
Because some people requested the tourney standing from mamer immediately before the crash, I could find the standing after 8 rounds (minus one game) in the command log, in the commands mamer had used to send it:
Code: Select all
Tourney Players: Round 8 of 9

Re: pawn hash
A couple of years ago I tried to compile the modified Lasker source under a (at that time recent) 64 bit version of Ubuntu, it was so difficult to get it running that I finally had to give up because it took too much of my time. First of all it was not a very wise decision to try making a 64 bit build, the program is literally filled with code that depends upon the size of variables and pointers and it uses library stuff that is long gone by now.hgm wrote:I should first try whether the ICS even works on 16.10. I had great trouble getting it running again after I upgraded from 8.04 to 9.04
ATM I have the latest version of Ubuntu running under a VM, when I have nothing to do with Christmas I will give it another try because I still would like to have a working version of the ICS.

What a bug fest. Tuning using small time control games does not detect bugs. Better inspect games or positions after a change to find bugs.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney November
Have the server problems been fixed? Will there be December tourney? There is not much time left in a month - the only Saturday other than tomorrow is the 31st, when i imagine many people will not be available. So tomorrow may be our last chance.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney November
Well, as I was away to the Canary Islands the first half of this month, I had no opportunity to look at the server problem. So I suppose it is still broken. I have now restarted the ICS, so we can try if it works. It is quite possible that this was a hardware problem, that now has been fixed by the provider.
Tomorrow I will be out of town, unfortunately.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney November
Maybe you can instruct someone else how to start the tournament?
