On-line engine blitz tourney October

I still have not been able to establish the cause of the ICS crashes that suddenly started plaguing us. But Joost Buijs has been setting up an instance of the ICS code on a server of his own, which now seems to be fully operational. The proposal is to have the tourney for this month on that ICS.
Joost will be able to tell us the details.

The proposal is to have the tournament take place on saturday October 12th at 20:00 CET (14:00 EDT), so that is 1 hour earlier than before!!! If this is inconvenient for some people we can always reconsider.
Lisebeth (an experienced TD from ICC) will be our TD.
You can reach the server at 'nightmare-chess.nl' on port 5000 as usual.
The server is fully functional, we did some tests with a small number of participants and everything went smoothly. However, it is just a small machine and there is no way to tell how it will hold with a large number of participants. If server speed presents a problem I can setup a faster one next time. The server sits on a fast 1Gb internet connection, 2 hops away from AMS-IX, so the connection should not be a problem.
Unfortunately it is not possible to transfer the user accounts from Harm Geert's server to ours because the encryption scheme is different. If you want to enter the tourney you can send an email to '
admin@nightmare-chess.nl' with request for a new account. The server should automatically mail you when the account has been made, but if it doesn't and you don't receive anything, just let me know by mail or by sending a PM.

Some remarks:
Initial ratings are set at 2500, nowadays an average engine has at least 2500 Elo. It might be good to play some games before the start of the tournament to get the initial ratings a bit more accurate.
Channel 1 is the help channel, channel 64 is the computer-chess channel and channel 49 is the mamer channel. Make sure that at least 49 is in your channel-list, I don't know if mamer adds you to channel 49 automatically when you join the tournament.
The tournament will be a normal Swiss tournament, not a McMahon style tournament.
Disclaimer: The last two weeks we've been testing the server very thoroughly, after solving some annoying bugs everything seems to be stable, but I cannot guarantee that everything will go smoothly with a large number of participants.

The server works but seems to be missing a few little things. "rematch" command is not recognized. "eco" command does not work while observing, only if playing or examining. These are nothing major, though.

The server is based on the public domain Lasker/Capablanca code, some commands and variables present at FICS and ICS are not implemented in this very old code. The code as it is, is a terrible mess, I'm thinking about cleaning it up, and maybe adding some missing things in the future.

There was an issue with sendmail tranferring messages to the external relay, it was difficult to find out what causes this, I finally switched to ssmtp, 'mailoldmoves' and 'mailstored' should be working now.
At the moment we have about 23 registered accounts, on Harm Geert's server there used to be a lot more active players, so a number of people are still missing.

Another bug: "follow" does not show the game if the account you want to follow is presently playing a game.
