Banksia GUI and randomized book openings for Leela

Post by smcracraft »

I don't see the method.

Registered over at their BB but it (phpBB I believe) never sent the email to the address of record here.

So, if the author of banksiagui.com's apps can address that and comment on setting randomized book openings for Leela, it would be appreciated!

Thanks for using and requesting!

Can you explain a bit since I am still confused? Do you want to vs LeelaChessZero (Lc0) when it uses random moves from an opening book? Or is it a tournament of multi-engines (not Lc0 only)?

For human vs Lc0 (or any chess engine), BSG will play moves from a Polyglot (not other formats) opening book. The random depends on Seed number and top percent. To set up, open Setting dialog (menu -> File -> Settings) and select tab Book/Egtb, add an opening and set value for Seed and top as the below image.

For a tournament, BSG can use popular opening book formats such as Polyglot, PGN, EDP. Basically, BSG will pick up almost random opening positions for games in a tournamennt, thus you don't need to worry about randomness.

You may post your questions here or in BSG Download page https://banksiagui.com/download/ and/or in the main forum thread at http://talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=72350

My Banksia (0.10 alpha) does not have seed capability under preference. I run on Apple MacOS Catalina. If an upgrade is required please advise (send doc).

Also, I do not see any place for gmbook nor where to get it nor what it is.

Thanks for answering these questions. I've been playing the same moves against Leela for the past 6 months and am rather bored, hence the questions.

Thanks.

Please download the latest version(ver 0.35 beta) at https://banksiagui.com/download/ and try. You may download some Polyglot books from BanksiaGUI (menu -> Tools -> Download).
