Re: On-line engine blitz tourney January
I think your engine has no fans or sponsors so who cares accept yourself of course.
Even attended wccc as a spectator twice. Message was: "go home for you are twenty years too late.
And please don't bother the operators or people that have to publish about the event".
But I should be glad I did not have to pay an entrance fee.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney January
That's horrible to hear, its been a life dream to go to a WCCC event, ever since Paderborn in '99. Wonder why someone would act like that? Always had the impression, one of the best things about the event was getting to meet with people and bond over a mutual love for the sport and hobby.Henk wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 10:15 am I think your engine has no fans or sponsors so who cares accept yourself of course.

Might be because I visited them at the end of the tournament and they were tired or too busy with the games.
Maybe when you are a spectator you can only talk to other spectators when not hindering operators.

Would love to participate but have obligations during this time and not able to attend or spectate. In the future if there are any engines you all would like me to run, I'd be willing to operate them in future tournaments. Just need accounts. Worse case I can fire up some digitalocean nodes for a few hours to run as many as you like.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney January
It was a remarkable tournament, probably one of the hardest monthly tournaments ever.
I didn't expect Nightmare to win this tournament with LCzero and two RaspberryPI's tied for 2nd place.
The difference in strength between the numbers 1 to 14 is probably negligible.
Six weeks ago I've implemented a NNUE style network and trained a network with ~400M positions from games I got in the past from the Chessbase server and Infinity Chess. I already had the impression that it plays a lot stronger than my HCE, but I didn't expect it to reach such a high level with the ancient search I use. Maybe an old fashioned search works better with NNUE. This time I used the Cevdet book, probably this helps too.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney January
Fun fact: in one of the games, my engines reached the KBN-K endgame, so this does actually happen. Since it doesn't support EGTBs, it's good that it has some KBN-K code to win this.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney January
Indeed sometimes this happens. I don't think that my engine is capable of winning this without TB. Actually I never tried, maybe if it looks deep enough it will find the win after some shuffling around.
