2007 World Computer Quick Chess Championships

Post by CRoberson »

Announcing The 2007 Second Annual ACCA President's Tournament and the 2007 First Annual World Computer Quick Chess Championship.

The date for the 2007 2nd Annual ACCA President's tournament will
be Saturday and Sunday June 2 & 3 2007. Since the President's
tournament is to be a "fun" tournament, we will spin off a new
tournament and new format with this one.

As such, it will have a dual name this year. It will also be the 2007 World Computer Quick Chess Championship and will allow entrants world wide.

The WCQCC will be an annual tournament and starting in 2008 is planned to be separate from the ACCA President's tournament.

We welcome authors (and authorized operators) from beginner to advanced and from around the world to enter.

The TC will be G/30+1 and 14 rounds are planned.

The details are at:
http://taccl.org/2007Presidents.html

Please join register on the registration page quickly. Once the number of entrants gets above a reasonable number, I can negotiate with ICC for accounts and so forth.

I've never heard of that outfit. Is there a public page such as on Wikipedia showing previous events?

Nice idea : I like this timing (30 min + 1 sec).

Do you already have an idea of the time schedule for the rounds ?

A small suggestion : if you wish to have as many european participants as possible, maybe you could consider having 8 rounds on saturday and only 6 ones on sunday so that the tournament will not extend until too late in the sunday-monday night for those living in Europe who will have to go to work on monday :-)

Cool!

Any chance to make it an over-the-board tournament from 2008 on? I've never been outside the Eurafrasian continent before, and the WCQCC would be a nice opportunity to visit the US. :)

Are you an American citizen, then? If not, tough luck, because they don't want you.

But this is an April-fool's-day joke, isn't it?

Round time schedule is under discussion.

Your idea about rounds being 8 & 6 sounds good or maybe better is 9 and 5. Once we have some European participants sign up they can voice an opinion.

This tournament is open to authors world wide. Citizenship is irrelevant. That is why it is a WCQCC instead of ACQCC.

Hugh, you are welcome to enter!

That is a possibility.

Well, this is not what rule #3 on the page of your URL says.

One has to be careful, because American's sometimes have a funny conception about what 'World' means. (e.g. 'World Series' to decide which one of two local baseball-competion winners is better.)
