CCC Archives Search

Post by Sean Mintz »

I have re-enabled the search function at the CCC Archives, located at

http://www.stmintz.com/ccc/

It now searches the subjects of the archived messages for all of the words you enter.

I will be working on improving its functionality in time.

Thanks Sean!

I was worried we wouldn't get the CCC-archives back online, as the search function did not work anymore for a couple of months already! Was the search function disabled by the provider, because of too much traffic?

I was using a search utility that, while powerful, apparently used too many resources. The host kept killing it and eventually disabled it. The new search simply takes advantage of MySQL's built in search functionality. It is not yet as powerful or fast, but I am working on improving that.

hi Sean

great work!
what a shame it would be to have lost 10 years of posts if not for your site coming back online!

with this new forum software we lose all posts after 6 months if there are no new replies added to a thread ..so at least the old CCC is still preserved!

Highest Regards

I just added a link to the results page of each search to try your search on Google. Google has been indexing the site for a while. It does not yet have everything, but you can use it to do powerful searches.

If you try this search

http://www.stmintz.com/ccc/index.php?terms=ccc&search=1

You will find a link to

http://www.google.com/search?q=ccc+site ... z.com/ccc/

Is and if so where is CCC keeping it's archive? A long time ago Dan Corbit had the old CCC archives on his ftp. But since the forum went to the phpBB2 format I thought offline viewing, and grabbing posts was no longer an option. I'd be happy to hear this is wrong, as I've been gone a while and would love to grab older posts and play catch up.

I'd like to know. I'd be happy to archive as much of CCC as possible.
