What great game, Carlsen vs. Anand!



The opening was a Sicilian with Carlsen throwing everything at Anand's kingside, he played with a Win or nothing atittude which cost him his lead in the event.

Here Carlsen starts a plan to bring his Rook over to the Kingside via the c3 square. The plan looks good. However Carlsen faulters a little four moves late.

Here Carlsen plays 28. Bf3, it looks like 28. gxh6 would have been better.

Here Anand finds the defensive resource 28 . ... Bxd5 exchanging down some material, but misses his chance to exchange down even more on his next move.

This is where Anand now faulters, he should have played 29. ... Qb5. Activating the queen and offering to trade down even more material. Because Carlsen now plays the strong 30. Bxh5! Bring life back to his Kingside attack.

No I did not, I liked Carlsen's ideas, I just felt he was a bit to aggressive when playing someone the level of Anand in these types of positions. I thought move 15 g4!? was a interesting idea. Now if he were playing Topalov, I think Carlsen's moves would have had better chances.

I remember a while back where you posted another position and "your" Shredder 10 failed to see a winning move while "mine" found it.
This is the case again.
I wonder why....
