(Passive) Thinker 5.2B - ponder game

Post by Werner »

Hi,
here is an example of a match Thinker - Deep Sjeng 3.0 w32 1CPU with ponder on on my dual played in Fritz 11 GUI. If I counted correct - then DeepSjeng had 46 ponder hits and Thinker 11:

On the other way - my eng-eng match with ponder = off at the moment is

Code: Select all

1 thinker +9/-7/=5 54.76% 11.5/21
2 Deep Sjeng 3.0 w32 1CPU +7/-9/=5 45.24% 9.5/21
- Thinker plays very strong!!! -

Isnt it only logical that the winner would have more ponder hits? How about comparing a won game from Thinker?

Hi Tony,
I don´t think this is the reason. I have only a draw game. If you want, you can count yourself

Hi Graham,
no - not more!
I just used the old chessbase winboard adapter (adapter.eng) from 1999 8-)
And with this adapter you can see more infos - as you see here.

As I remember: we had a lot of discussions about this adapter, as not all wb-engines worked correct with it. So later Chessbase decided to delete it. Its no more downloadable on Chessbase.
I found one on a old backup CD - perhaps you find it on an old Fritz 5 or 6 CD?

Try this: http://pagesperso-orange.fr/lefouduroi/config/Quark.zip

The file was included in Quark's releases. Just rename Quark.eng to Thinker.eng. The link is from Patrick Buchmann's site (in french): http://pagesperso-orange.fr/lefouduroi/engines.htm#UCI
