Intel is still more sophisticated. AMD is desperately trying to catch up.

No doubt this is going to be a good chip by AMD but Intel is gearing up for bigger and better things. If you read the Intel site you'll see Intel is in the lead and intends to keep it.

OK you hardware fetishists 8-)

I'm gonna buy a new notebook within a month or two.
Is any of this lovely new gear soon available on notebooks, or is Core 2 Extreme the best stuff for on your lap?

Cheers,

Kaj

I read sometime ago that notebook version of chips Core i7 won't be available before Q3 2009. I don't know if this time schedule has been changed (I'm not a hardware fetishist, even if I torture daily my old pentium 4  )

Is there such a thing as an "octal" proccessor? If so, how does this compare to it?

If that planning appears to be serious, i might postpone the new beast for those plusminus 6 months. The new stuff would blow away the C2D Extreme, for what i've seen from it.

Thanks for the info.

Cheers,

Kaj

Read the site and see what's just on the horizon.

In short, Is it as good (or more? or less?) than a doubling speed of a Quad core?
