Firebird 1.0 beta vs Rybka 3, 15+10

Post by yanquis1972 »

256MB Hash each, 3CPU each, heavily truncated book (3 moves), and i enabled 'enhanced time management' for firebird. hope to run to a decent # of games, & i think it's a good TC to get there & still find out if firebird is supreme at longer time control.

dear John,

i ve just finished my first test with firebird 1.0. On my Compaq 6710b, T8100 , 2100 Mhz a Blitz 4m+2s Nunn2 testmatch. Both 2 CPU 64mb Hash.
An IMO almost unbelievable good result. The best in the Ip/Rob/Ig series sofar.

1 FireBird 1.0 beta w32 +20/=22/-8 62.00% 31.0/50
2 Rybka 3 32-bit +8/=22/-20 38.00% 19.0/50

very interesting. someone was saying on another forum that the difference in strength between 32 bit versions is greater than the difference between 64 bit. no idea if this is true or not. that's also a faster TC than i'm testing with which favors the Ippolit family; i'll be be very pleasantly surprised if i get similar results. thanks for the info.

no problem. :)

rybka appears headed to even the match at 2 wins a piece. what you were saying about a lack of draws seems to be holding true here so far as well early on. as i said on the rybka board from what i have observed so far imo the style and eval is sufficiently different to cause this.

Igorrit_0086v9 and Robbolito 0.09 still seem to the best of all the versions from what I've read about results. :)

I have been keeping track of these diff. versions of Robb. and
now Firebird.
A couple of the Robb version were equal to Tankist 1.2. The
others were weaker. This is the 32 bit.i have been testing.
The latest Firebird appears to be the same as Taskist.1.2.

Firebird beta vs. Tankist 1.2 30/59 11-10-38.
Tankist 1.2 vs. Firebird beta 29/59 10-11-38.
Blitz 15/0.

Best,

Gerold.

Hi Gerold,

Tankist 1.2 is a clone of RL 0.085e4. Analyze a position with both engines and you will notice it.

19 games in, Firebird with surprising results -- +7 =9 -3

i am temporarily aborting the match but will resume this afternoon with rybka contempt set to 0. i hope to get 50-100 games in.

regarding igorrit vs firebird, it seems close. my personal results were otherwise although marginal, & igorrit v9 still has problems at long TC, though i could probably run it at 15+10. also, no MPV etc. for these reasons i regard firebird as the more interesting engine right now.

Please post code samples if you are going to make such blasphemous accusations. The authors of 0.085e4 worked very hard and, as their pages say, dedicated this noble work to the 92nd year of the Bolshevik Revolution, the Decembrists, the proletariat and Lenin. This alone is proof of its integrity.

It has taken great sweat and effort to introduce these unique works, and clearly 92 years of Bolshevism has finally coincided in this wave of mass genius leading to so many unique 3200+ engines at once.

Take your your capitalist envy elsewhere.
