Counter attack on the king side and then rolling the forces back to the queen side is the only wayout I see here....

Why? It's a draw.
It's not....Topalov is too aggressive in his playing style and he won't miss this opportunity,unless he chickens out....

OTOH, maybe it is not so easy. Exchange rooks, the white knight goes to c8 and ends up selling itself for both queenside pawns and then pushing the g-pawn would draw, would it not?
