And who's fault is that? Give credit where it's due. Junior won the game, and it was a nice one, no matter what the reason.
The Firefanboys will believe what they want ;-)
Of course the outcome of the game had nothing do with whatever
book moves. Even DJ thought it was down -0.40 around the early
30ies moves.

Junior did not have a chance, had it not been for Fire's hardware unstability. When your engine restarts something like 3-4 times in a row, due to too much overclock. You are doomed to lose the game...
Another issue is the book. I heared that Fire played with no book at all.

Maybe, just for once open your mind to the chess that was played and not the result or who played it. If Fire had won the game in this fashion, my post would be the same. When people can speak only of the results it makes me laugh. "Talkchess" is the name of the place, therefore, I posted about the game, "chess" . Next time, perhaps, I will post, " great computer game". Then maybe, the chessplayers who enjoy the game of chess for its complex beauty will take a look, and hopefully excluding the people who care not or are to weak to realize a beautiful game ?!
I won't point any fingers. 8-)

Is it true that the hardware Fire was on crashed a few times during the tournament because of high unstable OC? This game is a little interesting and am surprised Fire lost.

Another issue is the book. I heared that Fire played with no book at all.
And who's fault is that? Give credit where it's due. Junior won the game, and it was a nice one, no matter what the reason.
yes i agree...

it was an absolutely beautiful game by Junior
who really impressed with it's style and creativity...
this was a new un-released version? (11.2a), with some real clear improvements.

9 rounds...anything can happen...that's what makes it so much exciting!
and this particular game is one of the best of the tourney!

not wise to take this engine for granted!

I am a big Junior fan but have an impression that Fire just badly misplayed the game, abandoning several fortress-like setups, maybe because it was actually better and tried to make progress. It overstepped at some point but this is not what a typical Junior victory looks like.

kingliveson wrote:Is it true that the hardware Fire was on crashed a few times during the tournament because of high unstable OC? This game is a little interesting and am surprised Fire lost.
yes, i believe the PC crashed on several occasions...
the only explanation i received was once i had a message forwarded to me by one of the other operators present...

it said:
the 'Fire operator' has "trouble running the game on his hardware because of the heat"

that's all i know...
i assumed naturally, that the system was being over-clocked, and had to be restarted...
what the ramifications were for the progress/quality of the game, etc... i have no idea.

but it doesn't really matter to me...
i think the participants, operators, organizers did a great job...and devoted a lot of time and effort to make this event possible...

overclocking is an acceptable and oft-practiced way to get some extra speed out of the system...
problem is of course, you go just a little too far...famous blue screen of death!
