"quick and dirty" tool.

I hope tweaking will add 200 Elo points to Houdini 1.5a !
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Awesome piece of programming Matthias...!

(but maybe we shouldn't help Houdini get any stronger than it already is!?)

PS - would you be so kind as to list the values of all the eval terms and search parameters in Houdini 1.5a while you're at it?
as soon as you're done, please PM me!
:)

Hi Norman,

I don't speak Assembler fluently, so the tool configures only the 37 values Richard pointed to. :(

Great tool, Matthias!

I now have a Houdini 1.5a.exe with new material values ...

pawn value 100
knight value 313
bishop value 320
rook_value 512
queen_value 967
bishop pair value 50

These values work very good in Fire 2.2 Extreme. Perhaps they will also make Houdini 1.5a stronger. ;-)

Anyway, this is a start for a new personality (Houdini 1.5a Blaze). No changes to the eval weights yet.

Regards
Dave

I don't know about "stronger", but the chance to make a variety of Houdini personalities should be fun. Maybe Osipov will give us the same chance with his new child.

Hi,

Granularity of the eval weights seems to be a bit coarse. Why allow only 1.0x 2.0x 3.0x and 4.0x? It would make more sense to allow all values in the range 0.5x - 2.0x (0x10 - 0x40 hex)

Just my 2c

Hello Matthias:

Thanks to your tool (thanks also to Richard Vida) Houdini 1.5a is now Houdini 1.5a xTreme, keeping the nomenclature of kranium with Fire. It is very interesting!
