Looking for a new chess program.... Is RYBKA 4 a good buy? (someone on Amazon gave it a low review)....Any better recomendations? I want something that you do not need to "refuel" after so many days of use....etc.
also what about Rybka Aquarium? Is it worth the extra investment?
thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert,if you look for a new stronger engine then i would go for Houdini

You can even download a free version : Houdini 1.5

Re: Rybka 4.....?
Rybka 5 has got to be coming out soon, though. Version 4 has been out so long. Even so, it's a terrific engine and its analysis features are really good...given enough time. It just depends on what you are going to do with the program. If you are going to run engine matches, then a very stable program like Shredder or Fritz are good, if you want to buy a program. Either way, you can add other engines to your GUI, like Houdini, Critter, etc.

No, I am up to number 12 now...did not know they had a Fritz13....
the last one I bought was Fritz9...
I have Junior10....and Hiarcs 11.2...etc....pretty good programs...;
I still like Junior5 the best because of the unique way it saves a position in the data base...

A mistake, I think, because Fritz 11 GUI is better.rightrook wrote:....I ordered Fritz 12 for now...

Fritz 12 GUI has some nonsense called ribbon controls.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.
