The last official release of StockFish finds Ra3 in 0.765 seconds [11524 nodes/(15064 nodes/second)] at depth 5/5 in my system... so it will be faster in better hardware.

I have observed one issue in my system (Intel Pentium D930): the final slowdown in search speed (in terms of nodes/second). It happens with all the engines I have; this issue does not happen when I run Houdini 1.5a w32 in console mode in an Intel i5-760. Why? I only run StockFish (or other engine) under Arena 2.0.1, without more programmes.

Ra3 is the only logical move. It forces the win. The Turbo 432 is very old and very slow by todays standard. Not sure why, outside of amusement to test it with this position or to show how far computer chess has come.

What game is this position from? It's very familiar or at least the pattern is.
