And this is using the latest iPhone 4s.I closed it down and tried to re-launch but am stuck on the home screen.I might have to uninstall and try again I hope ChessBase are aware of this problem.Even when the app was working I found some things I don't like, the pieces are too small for the squares but they look nice, trouble finding games, had to wait minutes to find a 5 min game against any-one,any rating.
IMO you shouldn't assume that, Alex. Better mail them... Also it will urge them to release a fix! ;)

Christophe just updated Chess "Chess *" Tiger! It seems to be a major update! :)
What's New in Version 2012.01
Thank you so much for all the great reviews! As each update resets the ratings count, please take a moment to update your review for the current version.

Also, if you ever have a problem with the game, please write us via the "Report a problem" option, which is available from the Options menu, or with "Contact us" on our website (http://www.chesstiger.com). We answer all email promptly, and work very hard to solve any problems that come up.

If you send a review to report a problem, we have absolutely no way to contact you back. So you will not receive any answer, and it's a pity because we probably already have a solution to your problem!

This is a major update with many improvements. Just to mention a few:
- New graphical chess boards and piece sets
- You can be visually warned when your opponent threatens you
- You can easily turn on/off the threats and suggested moves display
- You can delete games from your collections
- You can see the list of captured pieces
- ...
Now the graphics are retina! :D

???

The graphics have ALWAYS been retina.

I thought you had tested the very first version of the app. It was already retina!

Hi Christophe,

Great update. I love the paste from clipboard - is that new? I also see I can limit the 2 player analysis to one line. However even if I do, the app regularly shows multiple lines. For the other lines are you searching something like alpha-0.1 to get moves close to the best move?

Thanks again,

Steve

OK - thanks. I didn't use the previous version because of the multiple analysis lines limitation. I guess I'll use it more now!

!!!

I have ALWAYS tested Chess * on my iPad.

As it is not a universal app, the graphics are just the non-retina ones magnified by two and hence look blocky.

Import from clipboard has been there since the very first release. It has been improved in this version to accept more abuse from malformed PGN input and to output a more helpful message when the input is really too badly malformed.

The app warns you that sometimes more lines than asked can show up. This is because asking for less than the 4 best moves is meant to be a way to speed the search up.

But sometimes one move is found that is thought to be the best, then another one turns out to be even better. In this case, I do not discard the first one that has been found because it is still a useful information.

I don't play with alpha and beta in multiple best moves mode.
