That is good news Robert
Question 1: On what time control the progress of 45 Elo version 3 compared to 1.5 is measured ?
Question 2: Anything known about the price or pricing for upgrade from 2 to 3 ?

Hello Bram,

Question 1: Compared to Houdini 1.5a I get the following results:
- 27,000 games against 9 other engines on ultra-fast TC gives +45 Elo
- 3,600 games against 9 other engines on blitz TC gives +46 Elo

Question 2: Nothing has been decided yet.

Greetings,
Robert

Hum. If the gainning is already measured, then the Houdini 3 version is already finished, so, why to wait till september to release it?

Or those are the expected rating increases?

They hope to make further improvements 8-)

Besides,it's wise to wait tactically for the release of Deep Rybka 5 I assume....

From Facebook:

Some news about the Houdini Development.
We've started working on Houdini 3. Release is scheduled for the second half of the year, probably in September 2012.
The current development version is about 25 Elo stronger than Houdini 2 (45 Elo stronger than Houdini 1.5), we hope to add some more strength in the coming months.
Of course all current Houdini 2 customers will get a nice discount for Houdini 3!

It looks to me he has already banked 45 Elo (compared to v1.5a) and hopes to achieve more.

Alfonso, the results shown are for the current development version.
I hope to continue to improve the engine between now and the date of the release.

Hi Robert,

Don't forget to dedicate some resources for testing at long time controls too as some people here are implying Houdini 1.5 is stronger than version 2 at the regular OTB time control (40 moves in 120 minutes).

Best regards

Ignacio, a Linux version probably not, but you can expect a Houdini 3 release for Android.
