The good old WChess 1.05 (DOS version)

Post by F.Huber »

Hi,

I post this also in a separate thread so that none of our many DOS-oldies fans can overlook it!

Dave Kittinger was so nice and gave his permission to make his DOS chessprogram WChess 1.05 available here, many thanks!

So here's my package - I've removed the copy-protection and of course also the user-info that is written into the EXE at the installation process (I just changed the name to 'David Kittinger', what else  )

Have fun with this great and very famous chess program,
Franz

BTW, it would certainly also be a good idea if Ed Schroeder adds this program to his freeware page!

Thanks Franz. Needless to say, this is 'as is' and is NOT supported ;-)

Thanks pal, for the file! I already downloaded and made it work, bgut...how can I set it, levels, and other things?
I have only a screen with the board an T1 level and I see no way to change that.

Press F1 and you get a help-screen (3 pages with PgDn).

But I'm sure level T1 would be enough for you (and us) ... ;-)

Of course, Dave! :P

If it doesn't work as it should then it's certainly my fault - maybe you've implemented additional clever traps which I've just overlooked (although this is quite unlikely, because it has run here already for many years without any problems).

So if you find your sources anytime, of course a 'new' version with a correctly removed copy-protection would certainly be appreciated.

I guess you mean something like 'thinking' or 'PV'?

Try entering p1, p2 or p3 (for increasing PV lines)

My next hint will cost money ... ;-)

Damned, with my old internet-notebook here I can't watch youtube videos, so I don't know what you want to tell me. :(
