2 new addenda and final version of the LittleCompendium

Post by Lyudmil Tsvetkov »

Hi,
During the summer I have done some stuff for the LittleCompendium (my project on chess evaluation).
There are 2 new addenda: addendum2 and addendum 3.
What might be new.
In addendum 2:
- a bit on unopposed pawns (that will be a p that does not have enemy counterparts on the same file, while not being a passer, potential passer, etc.)
- specific rules for backward ps
- specific rules for fixed structures and blocking
- specific rules for isolated and double ps
- more on passers
- fanning-out quality for pieces
- relative importance of tactical and positional factors and subsplitting of those

In addendum 3:
- specific rules for unopposed ps
- lead pawns (the most advanced of a group of diagonally connected ps along the same diagonal)
- specific rules for root pawns (the last of a group of diagonally connected ps)
- a bit on the piece values
- functionality of pieces
- control of squares
- table for different pieces attacking specific squares of the enemy king shelter (long overdue)
- many other rules for different things

You can download the addenda here:
addendum 2 - http://evalcompupload.wikispaces.com/fi ... C_2012.pdf
addendum 3 - http://evalcompupload.wikispaces.com/fi ... C_2012.pdf

You can also download the compendium in full, completed with the addenda and with some older values revised (especially concerning attacking pawns and pieces and king attacks), here : http://evalcompupload.wikispaces.com/fi ... endium.pdf

I think this will stay as the final version, at least for some unspecified time.

Many thanks this time go to Gerd Isenberg for kindly suggesting I could upload the files on the cpw site.
And many thanks to all who might read the odd idea in there.

Best regards,
Ludmil

PS. Some of the moderators, please, be so kind to transfer this thread also to the subforum on programming, not to violate any rules.

Hi Ludmil,

you have created your own "evalcompupload" wikispace to upload the files, which is of course fine. When I try to access the documents, I receive
Access is Restricted
You do not have permission to view this page.
In Chess Programming Wiki, Manage Wiki / Wiki Permissions we have checked Protected instead of Private:

Code: Select all

[x] Protected: Everyone can view pages, but only members of this wiki can edit pages.
[ ] Private: Only members of this wiki can view and edit pages.

[x] Let non-members request membership in this wiki.
Otherwise no one except yourself can download the files, or request to register to your evalcompupload wiki, which I guess is not your intention.

Hi Gerd.
Sorry for the late reply.
Many thanks for helping.
I am quite inexperienced with wikis.
My intention is, of course, that everyone is able to
access and download the files.

Ludmil

Then you should assign appropriate access rights as shown in my previous post. In your "evalcompupload" wiki

http://evalcompupload.wikispaces.com

there is a Action bar left with a "Manage Wikis" link, there you'll find an icon "Permissions", where you should check the radio-button "Protected".

Hi Gerd.
Something just does not work.
When I open my wiki, I get just a blank page
with explanations, but no navigable buttons,
so I can not check the permissions options.
Maybe you can do something with the settings.
I have also left you a private message.
I am very sorry for all the mess and excuse myself to forum members.
Best, Ludmil

Hi Ludmil,

I guess the wiki software is to blame about the fuzz and confusion :!:

In the meantime, you managed to upload the files in cpw (I missed that earlier today), and all is fine now :D
Here are the links:
https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com ... C_2012.pdf
https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com ... C_2012.pdf
https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com ... endium.pdf

already incorporated from Evaluation.

The files you uploaded earlier are somewhere in the wikispaces nirvana :?:

Cheers,
Gerd
