You can try Szint,

Code: Select all

By Alex Guerrero

Szint a chess engine for fun

Time ago I did a version of Ivanhoe with personalities for fun, its name is Szint.

Szint has more of 100 personalities classified in three forms.

Szint Training with personalities from 0 to 2600 of elo.
GM Szint with personalities of world champions and grandmasters.
Settings with strong personalities Szint done by other users.

If you are interested you can download it here:

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Josè.
This engine is extremely useful; basically it satisfies 95% of my needs, and it is known than in life you never get 100% then 95 is very satisfactory  !
But i need some explanations (with no hurry): what are tic/tac/toe???
What is the difference between alternativetimeusage and normal?
Timeimitateopponent forces szint to have a remaining time as close as possible to the opponent?
Timemorewhenxxxxx means that szint, if losing, spends more time in order to find defensive resources, and when winning spends more time in order to find a quick ko?
I wish to know how and whether do multipv parameters can change the randomness/precision of play; multipv>>1 should improve precision i think, at cost of less depth.
SO DO YOU ALLOW ME to include szint inside LUCASCHESS gui (again and again, it's a completely free gui, not even a cent is involved, there is no kind of advertisement and it is not donationware: just a chess software FOR ALL)?
Useless to say, your name will appear among contributors in many menu and submenu of the program.
Aloha.

Ivanhoe is GPL, right? Then you could do anything with it you want, without any explicit permission from anyone. (As long as you don't change it.)

It seems to be public domain (perhaps open to interpretation: it says "Copyright (c) Roberto Pescatore plus Decembrists (all), PUBLICDOMAIN (workers)").

Isn't public domain and copyrighted a contradiction?

BTW Putting software in the public domain is somewhat dangerous since it seems you may be liable if the software malfunctions and causes damage. It you want to give away software it is preferable to put it under a simple license such as the MIT license where you decline any responsibility for the use of the software.

Then contact Roberto Pescatore & Decembrists and make this suggestion

My friend, I'm not the author of Szint.
Author is Alex Guerrero, you can try to contact him, but I have no contact to give.

You can download this engine from this address:
http://chess.cygnitec.com/engine/ivanhoe/
Casualties this file:
IvanHoe999946h.7z (last relase IvanHoe)
In the file you Help.pdf explaining options Ivanhoe (Szint).

The Chess Lucas collaborator Trebejo already know this engine, you can talk to him, I guess.
Luck.

Post Data:
First line in Help.pdf:
"IvanHoe is the strongest open-source chess engine available. IvanHoe is free to use and distribute."

Well, i am in "blind lane", as we say in italy.
I cannot find any engine that fits my ideas, maybe the closer was szint (close but not perfect) but the chief programmer of LUCASCHESS doesnt want Ivanhoe inside his software, maybe worried about some license problems.
I have tried dozens ideas but none works fine.
Probably i must give up  or wait some years, when finally somebody will accidentally release an engine that fits my needs.
Aloha :D

Don't you think that this is because you are not clearly stating what it exactly is that you want? Your initial post is all about playing by node count, and when it turns out this already exists, you suddenly say it is not important, and change your demand to having many adjustable parameters. And then when someone bring you that, it is no good because the prime requirement is apparently the license or origin of the engine...

HG, if you cant or dont want to help my idea actively... ok i cant blame you.
But pls neither accuse people nor offend them freely; from your first replies, your attitude has been very... unpleasant.
If this subject makes you so nervous, simply dont read/post!
