It would be good to know if the version of Stockfish on iOS is the same as that Droidfish uses.If they are not the same version then speed comparisons are not exact.I remember that Tord was soon to release an update, it would be good to know what version of Stockfish is used.

I also updated the value for the 4-cores Galaxy S3.

@Bill: Thanks! Those are very impressive results for a 2-cores device!!!

@Thorsten: What are your values for the HTC one X, then?

I don't think it's such a good idea to update values when a new version of stockfish is released, because for consistency we should keep the couple software/hardware to what it was when the hardware was released... except if we can test again all hardwares with the new software... but we can't.

The Stockfish version on my iPhone is "2.4 for iOS" running under
iOS 6. That version has not been updated since March 2011.

the higher values are IMO right. stockfish 2.3.1 was the engine used in droidfish for the benchmark of the htc one x.

I don't think it's such a good idea to update values when a new version of stockfish is released, because for consistency we should keep the couple software/hardware to what it was when the hardware was released... except if we can test again all hardwares with the new software... but we can't.
this is difficult. we can only measure the latest stockfish version beeing used. i know this changes results but we cannot downgrade each time.

nevertheless we now have the first results for iphone 5 !! thanks !!

its in one league with the HTC one x and not 6 times faster as other benchmarks showed before.

This is now what I meant. :) What I meant is: we should only consider the tests made when the new hardware is released, that is, with the current Stockfish. This means that it's not a good idea to update those tests when a new Stockfish version is released, because we can't test it again on all hardwares yet tested.

I See What you mean .But HTC one X is a New Mobile ,relatively new. Imo it makes sense to relate it with iPhone5.

Sure, but, again, that's not what I meant. ;) I was talking in a general way.

BTW, the HTC is four-cores, and the iPhone 5 is two-cores. Apple must have the fastest ARM cores there is currently!

I wonder if the next iPad will get a four-cores version of the A6...

Anyone have a benchmark for the Galaxy Note 2 ?

I have an idea that this will be the fastest smartphone on the planet.

If overclocked, I'm sure it will outperform an overclocked ASUS TF3000T tablet too.
