CA 13

All that for just US$ 142... and it comes with Houdini 3 Pro.

A better package than CB 12 (>300 euros), IMHO ...

It only comes with the main program, which while good, has not been touched in several years. You can hardly compare it with the giant package of products in the CB link you showed.

No doubt it will. He was showing the package with Mega database 2013, endgame DVDs, one year update service, one year subscription to CB magazine, one year of premium Playchess subscription, CB Correspondence DVD 2013, etc.

After all a nice offer!

Realize there is a world beside Chessbase

Chessbase 12 is better though.

Chessbase 12 is better because it comes with a lot of advanced search features like cluster search, the Cloud engine search where you can use many engines running on many computers at the same time (parallel search) and many other powerful search features that are not present in Chessbase 11.

Chessbase 12 is definitely the superior product.

At the end it comes down to the basic offer. All the bases, updates, players, anotated games, weekly/monthly updates ... is somethig you can get for free with little effort on the net.
What counts is the basic, naked offer of the programm.
In the past that was a 99€ download of CB. If that will be the last word ... we will see.

I probably realize better than you. I was a developer of Chess Assistant for several years. In fact if you open up the program and check the Help menu, my name is still cited in it.

Then you should at least look at the offer, what is included and what not before you are dumping it down to

And btw, we coul now start a long discussion who of us contributed more to computerchess but that would be quite useless. I just wanted to point out that this offer is more than just "only the main program".

ChessBase is awesome. It has its quirks, but I use it every day. Getting game updates is expensive so I've been subsisting on TWIC for a while. But ChessBase includes a lot of games you would not otherwise get.
