Unfortunately, we don't know anything about their progress. If you are not moving forward you are falling behind so even if we catch Houdini 3 we have to deal with another several months of improvement that Houdart has made.

Hi, Catching the top spot is a good goal which you deserve a shot at! but for me the fact that Komodo is a brilliant analysis engine is more important than first place. I use komodo in aquarium gui all the time for deep search and Komodo 5.1r2 does not dissapoint in analysis i run 6 instances on a i7 980x @ 4410Mhz.

Looking forward to Komodo 6 but no rush.I'm ready to flex my wallett some more

Thanks for the kind words! Although we are very much into the ELO race we very strongly value playing style - we want Komodo to be as positional smart as we can make it - and as you know our emphasis is not on speed and flashy tactics. We don't see any point in focusing on something that even very weak program have in abundance.

Apparently, I was very wrong about Komodo's level of performance, and very hard on you in the bargain. I hope you are willing to accept my apology for being so hard nosed.

It is glaringly obvious that Komodo MP is every bit a champ and I have no doubts now that should you continue to make improvements in the short term , there is a very good chance you will over take Houdini -and Stockfish may very well end up in third place.

I ran this match from July 28th- to August 11th

By round 34 Komodo was behind Stockfish by 8 games. By round 50 Komodo had only picked up one game. I thought it was up for Komodo.

By round 75 Komodo was gaining momentum - three games behind Stockfish.

You cannot help but be impressed with this chess engine.
