I must say that I do not mean Tenjiku Shoghi. I see and touch only with the classic chess pieces and transposition of figures. A brief overview of the programs (engines), which played on a board 16x16:
Chess program M.A.N.I.A.C.
site http://maniac10001.tripod.com
Unfortunately, the official site link to the program does not work. Tried to search the internet link to the program in different languages, it was all to no avail. Tried to contact the author of the program for contacts listed on the site. Received no response. If anyone has this program, please let me know.

Chessy.
In this program, you can not change (set) the initial position of the figures. It is necessary that the board was 2 times more pieces. For example, like this:

It's just a chess board 16x16 in C + +

----------------------------------------------
ChessV. This program has so many different options boards, but it does not have 16x16.

On the Croatian forum discussed a similar problem.

WinBoard-Alien edition (Big chess)
http://hgm.nubati.net/alien.html
http://talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 82&t=39615
Tried to install WinBoard Alien Edition and Xboard Alien on Linux. Did not find the board 16x16.
----------------------------------------------
Does anyone have engine that plays on the board 16x16 (classic chess) ???
P.S. Sorry for my bad English

Re: Classical chess on a board 16x16
Big Chess should not really need the Alien Edition of WinBoard/XBoard, as apart from the board size it does not involve any weirdness. So the standard edition of XBoard should be able to handle it with the aid of the board-size-overrule controls in the New Variant dialog.
There is one snag, however: the standard edition is distributed with too small a maximum for these settings. In the source file common.h there is the code
This would have to be changed to 17 ranks (in stead of 11), as one extra rank is needed to store castling and e.p. rights. After that you should be possible to install it from source with the usual
./configure
make
sudo make install
The next problem is that you would need an engine. As mentioned, Daniel Shawul's 'Nebiyu' can be configured to play this. It does not seem to be available as a Linux binary, however. But you should be able to run the Windows binary under wine; for engines this usually isn't a problem. Perhaps Daniel can comment on this. The .exe file you should run is NebiyuAlien.exe. (There are many .exe files in the Nebiyu download!)
The piece of code you quoted (only the first part, the second is no code, but was just test output of Nebiyu) should go into the Alien.ini file that comes with the Nebiyu install, which contains the rule descriptions of all games Nebiyu plays. I just put it at the end, behind the definition of pushmepullyuschess. Note that I changed the name 'bigchess' on the first line to 'normal', however, to make sure the WinBoard standard edition knows the variant name, and you can play it as normal Chess with 16x16 board. You should switch legality checking off before starting a game, to allow the engine to set up the initial position.

Big Chess played without castling in FICGS, regarding passant'm not sure, but I guess not.
This is a version bad old written in Visual basic 6.0 "since the original Migoya files by Alejandro Migoya Iriarte( 8x8, normal chess)", do not use in difficult level, is very slow.
then delete it from the hard drive, is very slow and very bad.

Yes, I know. But that still needs space to indicate there are no rights.

Re: Classical chess on a board 16x16
Nebiyu is a truly amazing engine. It can be configured to play almost any Chess variant (including variants with drops), and even without any eval tweeking it is pretty strong. I think it is really the most spectacular development in computer Chess of the past two years.
Before this thread was started, there was no engine for BigChess. By adding a simple game definition which would perhaps take only 15 minutes even for a non-programmer (and perhaps 3 min for Daniel), we suddenly have an engine that plays Big Chess, and searches 17 ply easily.

Tried to install WinBoard Alien Edition and Xboard Alien on Linux. Did not find the board 16x16.

Does anyone have engine that plays on the board 16x16 (classic chess) ???
P.S. Sorry for my bad English

ps: Perhaps The "Pawns" should start on the third rank instead of the second rank..adding more Bishops Knights and Rooks (Extra Queens?) on the second rank....
