3Champs reloaded

Post by Hugo » Sun Dec 01, 2013 3:39 pm

Hi all computerchess enthusiasts

for the honor to Don Dailey

4 days ago I started a new run of my 3Champs Tournament.
This time the 3 participants are running on a 24core machine, using 12cpu:

Round Robin Tournament 90min +15 sec, 50rounds, 150 games
Ponder = ON
engine = 12 cpu
hashtables = 4 GB
learning = OFF
hyperthreading = OFF
large pages = OFF
tablebases (engine) = OFF
tablebases GUI = ON ( small set 80GB)
opening book = Fritz 14 (5moves), mode "normal", no reversed color games
hardware = Intel E5-2697 v2 @ 3.00 GHz (turboMode)

Engines:

Houdini 4.0 pro, split depth 12
Stockfish 241113, sleeping threads idle ON, min split depth 7
Komodo 1142

livegames : http://www.clemens-keck.de/livegames/

ReplayZone : http://www.clemens-keck.de/ReplayZone/3champs2013.htm

This tour will take a while. I think 4 - 5 weeks.

regards, Clemens Keck

PS.: congratulations to Komodo 1142 for winning the grand TCEC !!

Great idea. I'm unaware that Komodo 1142 has been released. Where did you get it from? Also, why only 12 cpu? Don't all three support 24?

I too am about to pull the trigger on a dual Intel Xeon E5-2697v2 2.7GHz, 30M Cache, 8.0GT/s QPI, Turbo, HT, 12C, 130W, Max Mem 1866MHz machine, but first want to ensure these three engines are designed for it?

Komodo 1142 is no official release.
12 cpu for engine is because of ponder ON

PS: About the machine: Its simple the best I ever had :-)
regarding heat output, power consume, noise and playing strength.

Nice machine, nice tournament! :)
Will follow with interest.
12 cores ponder on (with no hyperthreading rubbish) is possibly the highest quality tournament that a tester has posted here.

I don't think the quality will be quite as high as TCEC, due to the faster time limit (105 vs 150 for time in minutes plus increment in seconds), but anyway a close second!

Larry - as you know, I'm planning a "LTC" 16-core 2687W, no ponder, event between H4ProB, K1142 and SF DD (or TBD), and ask for your, Marco and Robert's suggestions on format, along with anyone else's.
