It was already limited on bandwidth. Maybe it doesn't like the number of connections.

Right now I successfully created, added and seeding a torrent for the sbases345.tar.gz which is just under 1 gig.

Working on the 3-4-5 individual file set as well, and with the ability for webseeding since I am hosting those here:

http://olympuschess.com/egtb/sbases/

Hoping within the week to get the full 151gig 6men set up via this method.

Fair warning, if things go awry I may need to take it down. Despite the fact that torrents were created for this very means, it does make a bit nervous. Though I have tried to lock down the tracker as much as I can so that only I can add files to the system.

Downloaded - and using in the modified Stockfish.

6 men run brilliantly here on my laptop, no noticeable slowdown.

Thanks to everybody involved.

I am still sharing the torrent

P.S. Does the availability 1.996 really mean only 2 people were sharing at that point? I find that surprising as I though I knew at least 3 people that were sharing???

not sure why the embedded image failed...

Tried both of these

Well it's been 3 weeks, almost a month. Truly HAPPY at the results!!

Even now we have 7 WDL seeders with 13 downloaders (I hate the term leeches since most reshare), 7 DTZ seeders and 8 downloaders.

Plus a AMAZING 8 seeders, yet 0 downloaders "right now" but an amazing 158 complete datasets GRABBED!!!

Overall, dismissing my modest modest 3-4-5 webshare, from torrent alone. Our community has shared and distributed an AMAZING 11.6 freaking TB!!

I'm truly greatful for the author for making this possible, and for the countless sharers who have participated and also helped our community.

Thank you all. :)
I will keep this up and seeded for as long as possible, and add more torrents in the future.. planning Gaviota once the dust settles but will full webseed from my original website with better and unlimited bandwidth, and perhaps scorpio 6-men. :)

Just an update Syzygy are still being downloaded. Checked my tracker after letting it go for a couple weeks.

Amazed to see it has tracked a transfer of over 30 Terabyte, and right now is pushing 28 MB/s

Thanks to all the seeders!

Took a while for my account to get activated, but I wanted to register to say that the release of Houdini 4 and Dr. Houdart's endorsement of the Syzygy TGTBs is going to cause mass downloading. I've been downloading them all week long non-stop, and still have about 50 GB to go. It's sort of frustrating in that I'm used to 100x the torrent download rate these files are taking, but I suppose that's due to the rather niche market they are serving. I told Dr. Houdart I was even willing to pay 5 or 10 bucks for a better/faster download method than this, but oh well.

There is now an alternate download site, Sesse.net

(from the updated H4 manual)

Update: the 6-men Syzygy are now also available as HTTP download, see http://tablebase.sesse.net/syzygy

Note: if you try to download multiple files at once, Sesse.net will likely ban you. Don't use an "accelerator" that grabs more than one file at a time, download them sequentially:

http://tablebase.sesse.net/README

PS: If you use Firefox, the FireFTP extension can be configured for automated sequential downloads.

Thank you so much for hosting this! In fact your site is how I was able to finish getting the Nalimov set last year or so.

Cheers.

Just to clarify, Sesse.net is not my site! It is courtesy of Steinar H. Gunderson <sgunderson@bigfoot.com>

PS: I did contribute about 10TB to the Syzygy torrent, though.

Has anyone seen any performance differences between accessing these EGTB files on SSD v. External drive?
