This may be an argument for going back to chessclub.com in future. (We tried FICS and that wasn't reliable either). No disrespect to HGM. His server has been mostly ok.

Yeah but it is a pity, Nightmare was in a totally won position last round.
The server from HGM is ok, the problem lies in the ADSL line, it is probably 40 times overbooked from the telephone central system to the backbone. When somebody starts streaming a movie you are in big trouble.

Josh server is another possibility. But if we play in one having the other as plan B, we should be fine.jdart wrote:This may be an argument for going back to chessclub.com in future. (We tried FICS and that wasn't reliable either). No disrespect to HGM. His server has been mostly ok.

Yes, a home internet connection is always a risk. And sod's law, if it is going to go wrong, it will be at a critical time. I remember a few years back, when Tord was using my quad Opteron for a chess960 tournament, there was a problem in one of the London data centres, and he lost the connection for one round. Had to use his local laptop.

Hello everyone,
Due to obviously unforeseen server/routing issues, I have choice but to cancel Round 7 of CCT 16 and declare Komodo the Champion.
There will be no blitz event this year.

I was kicked out of Chapters because I moved all the Bibles to the fiction section.

Yes - that is hosted at an ISP I think. You're right, one can be the backup for the other if it is planned.michiguel wrote:Josh server is another possibility.
