There you are! I was expecting this post.George wrote:According to Mr. Derek...
Derek was clearly wrong, but I don't recall him ever admitting it. Perhaps I've overlooked it?

Mr. Derek was always wrong by underestimating Mr. Nakamura who is and always has been a player who is NOT afraid to play risky and entertaining chess ==> http://www.2700chess.com/Dirt wrote:There you are! I was expecting this post.George wrote:According to Mr. Derek...

Hikaru was a bit of an enigma when Derek said that. He was rather old with too low a rating to usually expect much from him, but his rapid and bullet performances were world class. That's not normal, and while it wasn't the only possibility, there were pretty good chances his classical rating would catch up. I'm pleased as punch that actually happened.George wrote:Mr. Derek was always wrong by underestimating Mr. Nakamura ...
(This post does not belong in the chess player's forum. That's fine for games being played but not for discussions.)

Who is No.2 in the world? I believe it is Veselin Topalov, with Anand in third place. Along with Carlsen they are the only 2800 players at present.George wrote:No this is NOT happening it could never ever be...

Nope. He was No.2 for a week or so, back to No.4 since Oct. 19.Sean Evans wrote:No. 2 = Nakamura

Hikaru is still number two on the official list. (You needed to wait a couple of weeks more.)dj wrote:Who is No.2 in the world? I believe it is Veselin Topalov, with Anand in third place.George wrote:No this is NOT happening it could never ever be...

You missed the irony and the point of my little dig at George. He regularly uses the live ratings website as the basis of his claims about ratings and position in world ratings (as in the first post in this thread, to which I was replying) but I was throwing back his own pointless "facts" in his face. On at least three occasions I have responded to George's nonsense posts by pointing to the distinction between the unofficial live ratings and the official FIDE ratings.Dirt wrote:Hikaru is still number two on the official list. The FIDE list is a guide to player current and potential future strength, not the gospel!Guenther wrote:Nope. He was No.2 for a week or so, back to No.4 since Oct. 19.Sean Evans wrote:No. 2 = Nakamura
