EXchess 7.88b, Bobcat 7.1, and Scorpio 2.7.7 under Fritz?

Post by Gusev »

I cannot seem to get EXchess 7.88b, Bobcat 7.1 and Scorpio 2.7.7 to run under Deep Fritz 14. (All of them run okay in Arena. Bobcat 6.4b runs under Fritz.) Is there a way to help any of this? This is part of the preparation for FOSCEC Season 3.

Here's what works so far, with 16 threads on an 8-core machine with hypethreading on:

1. Stockfish
2. Sting SF 6.1
3. Gull 3.0.1
4. Firenzina 2.4.3
5. Protector 1.9.0
6. Texel 1.06a40
7. Senpai 1.0
8. Cheng4 v. 0.39
9. Vajolet2 2.1 (8 threads only!)
10. Arasan 18.3
11. Bobcat 6.4b (but not 7.1)
12. Toga II 3.0
13. Crafty 25.0 UCI JA (but not 25.0.1)
14. Octochess R5190 (but Vajolet2 2.1 plays stronger)

Advice, suggestions, and help are most welcome!

Hi Dimitri,

in my download file to my FCP Rating List (around 300Mb) you can find the configuration from all participant 60 engines. OK, that are the configurations for Shredder Classic GUI (I am not a fan from Fritz GUI) but this one is big help if you have interest to config engines under Fritz GUI.

Hint:
Please use the newer JA compile for Scorpio.
Link can be found in my "Engine sites" selection.

Good luck and have fun!

Thank you! With the WB2UCI adapter, EXchess 7.88b works for me.

I have used EXchess 7.88b 64-bit under Fritz 15 successfully, using the WB2UCI adapter. I don't think it is different under Deep Fritz 14.

No experience with neither Bobcat nor Scorpio under Fritz.

Under WB2UCI adapter, Scorpio 2.7.7 JA works, too. Thanks!

This does not help, but now I also see a problem with EXchess and Scorpio running under WB2UCI. How can I increase their number of threads to 16? Each of them only runs 1 thread.:cry:

In this download you have documentation on WB2uci.
http://kirr.homeunix.org/chess/engines/ ... 351-ja.zip

This can be a beginning of configuration for EXchess:

Code: Select all

[ENGINE]
Name=EXchess_v7.88b_x64
Author=Daniel C Homan
Filename=EXchess_v7.88b_x64_uci.exe

[OPTIONS]
Program=EXchess_v7.88b_win64.exe
HashCommand=hash %iM
OwnBook=false
Visible=Ponder,Hash,Extras,Logfile,

[EXTRAS]
THREADS=cores|spin|1|1|32
EGTB_PATH=EGTB_PATH|string|c:\Tablebases
EGTB_CACHE_SIZE=EGTB_CACHE_SIZE|spin|8|1|1024
LOG=LOG|check|true|off|on|off
MAX_LOGS=MAX_LOGS|spin|1|1|100
Scorpio should be like, you can look at the sources and see the command that handles cores them,
cores, smp, threads, ect.

Hi Dmitri, I know of a bug in Bobcat 7.1. If you give it more than 1024 MB hash, it will accept the setting but crash at the first move. 1024 MB is the maximum.

Hi,
EXchess 7.88b works with H = 512, but not with 1024 MB!
