On-line engine blitz tourney August

Post by hgm »

The monthly on-line engine blitz tourney for August will take place on:

Saturday August 27, 3pm Boston time (21:00 Amsterdam time)

To connect:

winboard -zp -ics -icshost winboard.nl -icshelper timeseal -fcp ENGINE.exe -fd ENGINEFOLDER -autoKibitz

(for UCI engines, add -fUCI)

Please do not panic if I am not there at 21:00 sharp. I will be out of town most of the day, but plan to be back in time. But with the trains here in the weekends here you never know, and I do not have a very large margin. But even ifI miss a connection and have to take a train later I should not be more than 15 min late.

How does this work? Any rating restrictions? Is there a way to watch?

Thanks,

I think only a good internet connection, a winboard version, an account and a reasonable working chess engine.

I think you showed that even that is not a hard requirement :)

(just teasing you a bit)

Few days a go I encountered that Skipper was playing illegal moves again in lost positions. So some old bugs revive.

There are no restrictions other than that the same engine should not participate multiple times. And even that requirement is relaxed a bit lately, if a second copy wants to participate on very slow hardware (like Raspberry Pi).

For watching just login without engine:

winboard -ics -icshost winboard.nl -icshelper timeseal -autoKibitz

The ICS should be up again; I guess they rebooted the VPS it is running on for maintenance.
