Indeed .. 200 elo is so .. much
If it's true , Houdini catch komodo and stockfish
Also the TCEC superfinal will be great

Hi there,

200 Elo more = 3.290

If ASM Fish 8 BMI2 x64 have around 3.240 max. (think so, can be see later in my list) it can be 50 Elo stronger. In my opinion a sensation if 3.290 the final result. Maybe 1 year development advantage to the Stockfish / Komodo teams again for an "Alone fighter".

Robert got a lot of criticism from myself in all the years but if Houdini comes now again with such an advantage I must give him my sorry!

Very interesting update!

Re: Settings ...

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Code: Select all

[ENGINE]
Name=Houdini 5 Pro x64 C1
Author=Robert Houdart
Filename=C:\Chess\Shredder_12\Engines\Houdini\Houdini_5-pro.exe
[OPTIONS]
Contempt=1
SyzygyPath=c:\Chess\_syzygybases
NUMA Enabled=false
I am not 100% sure with the settings.

- numa should be off (using 1 core for my test).
- contempt 1 = 0.15, should be around the same I am using with Komodo, SF and Shredder ... C15
- tactical mode should be off ... reduce the strength

Hope I have it if I understand the readme to the possible settings.

Readme is good and interesting!!

Best
Frank

~200 elo over H4 is in the realm of SF8, maybe above latest komodo release. dont know where you get +50 elo from

Hi Dave,

the 40 days old SF have 3.217 in my list (with C10 and fast compile by ii u. ll).

max. + 10 for the newer version, max. +2.5 for contempt with 5 higher, max. +5-10 for ASM = 3230 - 3240 ... sure it will be the final result.

Houdini have 3090 + 200 = 3290!

= 50 Elo differents!!

OK, SF 8 ASM not tested so far ... but all to the same time isn't possible.

yep, i misread ccrl results. iwoba has almost 200 elo separating SF8 from H4 but CCRL 40/4 only about 140. so quite possibly the new strongest engine in the world. :P

Hello John,

CCRL & IPON haven't enough opponents (IPON slowly AMD hardware and a fast time control) ... not interesting for myself. So I am looking on my own ... again if I say ... isn't not good enough for myself I have a great possibility ...

I can make it better!
Easy, this one I do ...

So, I am looking on my own and know more about the playing style with move stats and much other interesting things.

Honestly, what the others do is not interesting for me because I have only one interest to ratings ... I will know how strong with modern hardware on 1 core.

Hard but fact ...
Sorry for it.

Best
Frank
