CCRL 40/40, 40/4 and FRC lists updated (21st January 2017)

Post by Graham Banks »

The latest CCRL Rating Lists and Statistics are available for viewing from the following links:
http://computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/4040/ (40/40)
http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404/ (40/4)
http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404FRC/ (FRC 40/4)

Please note that the three lists are often updated separately to each other. The FRC list is only updated when a new engine or engine version is being/has been tested.

2172! That's...wow, that's actually impressive. Though I suspect it'll get retested with stronger opponents and the rating will deflate. But still, 2100s is nothing to shake a stick at.

I'll have to find that loss on time bug, because I simply can't reproduce it.

Is there a reason why the checkmate ends the game with a 1/2 - 1/2 result?

Not sure, but I have had issues with the 64-bit version of Clarabit 1.00.

I see, hmm. I worry more, I don't think an engine can force a drawn result, I think it's more of an adjudication by the GUI problem. The programmers here surely have a better idea than me.
I worry because this may distort CCRL ratings due to erroneous adjudication.

I can visualize a scenario where a checkmate is also a legal draw --> if the checkmating move is the last ply of 50-moves without a capture or pawn move, and the side being checkmated declares a draw. This was not the case here as there was a pawn move as recent as move 63.
