"New" chess engine: Sabrina

Post by stegemma »

I've changed the name of my last engine from "Satana" to "Sabrina".

The first release with the new name is available on my site:

http://www.linformatica.com

There are some important technical changes, not just a name change. This release has not been fully tested but it should works fine, without major bugs.
Author of Drago, Raffaela, Freccia, Satana, Sabrina.

Seems to work fine in the Arena interface but it wouldn't register in the Fritz 14 interface. The Author and Name never fills in when it tries to register.

It is xboard... you have to use WB2UCI in CB GUIs.

Thanks!

"Satana" was choose by joke but it has some bad religious implications.

"Raffaela" is my wife
"Freccia" was my dog
"Sabrina" is my first daughter

In my family, there are even a son, a cat and a fish... so I'm ok with new names for a while! ;)

I avoided the engine under its old name.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

You avoided an engine because of its name ????

I guess you liked "pro Deo" more ???

And what about Opus Dei ?
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

I respect Gemuh choice, because me too I wouldn't download a software with some kind of names, like cigarettes brands, extremist organizations, homeopathy brands and so on...

Thorsten, as a german, you know that "Deo" means "De-odorant" in Germany.
I am not pro Deo as I don't use them. The chess engine is fine, though.
Never heard of "Opus Dei" as a chess engine. As a Protestant, I steer clear of the secretive group.
