Fizbo 2 has been released

Post by ymatioun »

Fizbo 2 has been released, and can be downloaded from

https://sites.google.com/site/fizbochessengine/

Here are release notes:

1. minor bug fixes: fixed a bug that occasionally crashed the engine, mostly running on multiple CPU cores. That is the bug that crashed Fizbo twice in TCEC10 .

2. minor changes to search and evaluation.

3. changes to parallel search, improving performance mostly on >4 CPU cores.

Expected playing strength is approximately 20-30 ELO higher than Fizbo 1.9

Thank you, thank you! I think Fizbo has the most attractive playing style with the highest rating, glad to see it's making progress.

I wonder if some day it'll implement features like MultiPV, Exclude Moves or even Fixed Depth...

Not a fan of Elo 3300+ engines, but Fizbo is always an exception due to its style.

Have a look at the weird opening play in this game.

Moves 5.a4 6.c3 and 8.Ra2!? are highly original, non-computer-like moves.

Fizbo will be my primary "truth seeker" engine in future for seeing wth happened in the games between weaker engines and personalities.

Thanks a lot, Youri!

Thanks a lot for the new version Youri. I hope you keep on improving Fizbo, so it becomes stronger than it is now. :) :)

Thank you very much for this nice Christmas present! I always liked Fizbo's unique playing style and now it has become VERY strong also! Can't wait for testing it.

Best regards

Hey, hey, have you tried Houdini 6 with high Contempt and half its cores set to Tactical Mode? It provides really speculative analysis (the one that jumps from 1.00 to 0.00 and back...), but when it's right you can see it building King Attacks out of nowhere and sacrificing rooks for pawns in surprising fashion. So unless high Contempt makes it play <3300 this could be a potential exception.

(sorry for being offtopic, this needed to be said...)
