Current dev Stockfish is nearly 60 Elo better than Stockfish 8. Nice job by the Stockfish team!!!

That's a nice increase in strenght, should be interesting to see how that translates to "real life elo" though... Houdini and Komodo will not be easy to beat.

I am ok with SF 9, we have to decide a dead line, for instance one week, and test for any bug unrelated to ELO (UCI options, compile, etc).

I propose 1/2/2018 for release.

Noo! Not yet! Stockfish 9 has to have higher Contempt as default, and I don't think there will be enough time for this.

Would be a shame if high Contempt as Default has to wait for S10

Awesome! So SF 9 is ready for release! And it turns out I'm very happy that they delayed SF9 for so long, let's hope SF10 isn't released until some major change at the base like this takes place!

Also, let's hope they call the next version after SF9, Stockfish X, as there's only one chance in a lifetime for something like this, such a great looking name, I hope they don't miss it

It's been 14 mos since last release. What are they waiting for? It's always going to be a neck to neck greyhound race for ratings or domination.

Everyone waits on Stockfish! Because...team SF does not release incremental updates. SF 'sets the bar'...then Team Komodo test more to try to get close...Houdini programmer just wakes up every couple of years, not caring what others time table is.

So Stockfish 9 comes out in a few days...a new Komodo will come out in a couple of months.... I think this is all pretty standard. Gamesmanship.
