Proposal: name confusion

Post by Ras »

Since the forum update, it has become difficult to tell who is who. In the old forum, the logins were not supposed to be descriptive.

Until there is some technical solution to the forum system, I suggest that we use the signature as temporary workaround.

First line of the signature: Name
Second line of the signature: website (if chess related)

See my signature as example.

Good idea.

Of course those who refused to something which would at least resemble a user name/real name already in the past (despite the forum policy) will be happy now. OTH we are free to ignore now all those phoney nicks with zero content or spamming or whatever missbehaving and they will dry out.

Good idea. Unfortunately, a new signature doesn't apply to old posts (unless I'm missing a setting).

Yes, I hope this gets fixed at the software level. For now this thread offers an excellent workaround.

It does. The signature is a property of the user, not of a post.

By old posts, I guess I mean the ones made before the upgrade. I've checked some of mine, and they don't have my signature.
