Maybe you meant the end of 2018. Do we still have to worry about Y2K and all the disasters it might cause ?

Leela's is currently No 2 in TCEC now. (Komodo's score could be -1 point due to 2 games of KMCTS crush only against Komodo).
It is small sample size but SF and Leela could be in this TCEC final.
And new net that is used in bonus game is +30 elo above this net in TCEC.

I am still alive. Old cars are IMO better.
They don’t need computers and can be repaired much easier.
All new stuff is doing is wasting resources.
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

Old cars are better because they don't need computers and can be repaired easier? By that kind of argument, tricycles are even better than old cars, and rags tied around your feet are the best.mclane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 6:02 pmI am still alive. Old cars are IMO better.

I would disagree. Being easy to repair is a great feature, for sure, but there is a limit to how much you can improve things without making them more complicated. Just as there is a limit to how much information can be encoded into several thousand bytes.

A car with a bus system is not easy to repair.
A car completely relying on mechanics and electricity is much easier to repair then a computerised entity.
Today’s car mechanics rarely repair. They look into the computer which error message is saved and exchange parts. But this is not repairing. It’s being a slave of a stupid computer.
Computers are to stupid to find out about cars or malfunctions. And those guys who trust computers driving the highway are idiots .

Most car crash fatalities are due to human error. Would you not trust a computer to drive your car in the future if fatality rates and insurance rates went down 10 fold ?

LCZ is losing this match. Not the end of an era yet.

End of an era is getting closer!! Just one step away to fight the final boss!!
This is the current standing in Premier Division in TCEC, at the middle of tournment.
And the newer nets are getting stronger day by day, may be +30 to +50 elo.
And there is still final LR drop for leela training that may add additional +30 to +50 elo.
