best hardware for Leela Chess Zero for moderate home PC

Post by Jonathan003 »

I have installed Leela Chess Zero on my HP all in one pc the way described here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qik9pBTQ4_4.
If I run 4 minute engine matches in Fritz 16 Leela Chess Zero looses all the time against Stockfish 10. I use the fritz 16 opening book for the engine matches. How come Leela Chess Zero is loosing all the time against stockfish 10 on my HP pc? Here is a link to my User Benchmark: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/15250419
Can I upgrade my PC somehow to make the results of Leela Chess Zero better on my PC? Maybe install a better video card and install a SSD harddrive or so?

You need a high-end graphics card. See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70096.

Your PC has Intel HD graphics 4600, that is unsuitable for running LC0, so you have to run it in CPU mode. I'm afraid that it is not possible to upgrade your HP all in one PC with a better graphics card.

If it is one of those slim all-in-one thingies it probably has no PCI Express extension slot to add a discrete gpu.

There are eGPU, external gpu boxes, available, connected via USB or thunderbolt,
but i have no clue if LC0 runs well with them...
